Terms of Use

Last updated October 15, 2026

These terms cover your use of Motif Editor (“the app”), made by RichBits (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Free trial

The app runs fully featured for 7 days from its first launch. After that it asks for a license key. Setting your Mac's clock back by more than a day ends the trial.

Your license

Payments and refunds

Payments are handled by our payment processor, under its own terms. If you're not happy with the app, reply to the email your license key came in within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked. Once refunded, your license ends and you must stop using the app. Because the trial is fully featured, please use it to check the app works with your Motif and MIDI setup before buying.

Your synthesizer and your data

The app sends changes straight to your Motif ES. Some actions, such as writing to a User slot or restoring a backup, overwrite the synthesizer's memory and cannot be undone. The app warns you before these, but you are responsible for backing up your sounds first. We are not responsible for lost patches, settings or data.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise it will be error-free or work with every hardware, firmware or MIDI interface combination.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Trademarks

Yamaha and Motif are trademarks of Yamaha Corporation. Motif Editor is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Yamaha. Other product names belong to their owners.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and updates won't take away a license you have already bought. Your license ends if you break these terms, and you must then stop using the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
